Noun, Noun, Noun and Verb
This song gets several ever-song, or multi-tool designations from Kathryn. It is written as a zipper song, and specifically to substitute a body part to a place. It could be called the "part to the place" song. Kathryn teachers educators to use this song as a CodeVerb™ song, where we can use the special interest of a child, and a playful pretend to help children do something, like fish to the river, or horsies to the barn. Use with current topic. Use with a long-term item in the space, or invent a way to connect the song to a journey you want the children to take, like going along the hall to the bathroom, using a representation of a river (could be blue painter's tape) and having the kiddos do "fish to the river". Use this powerful song as a multitool at different parts of the day. Coordinate with another teacher down the hall, or parent, or use it as a school or center culture creator but having pretend pathways around the school. These pathways could change over time or could stay the same. I love the celebration part of this song as well. The "hooray" is an opportunity for self-regulation, with kiddos being louder or smaller. Group guide indicates with fingers how loud to be when children join in saying "hooray"!
