Service Description

In this class, we will explore a slower, mindful chair yoga practice with sequences designed for you to bring to your personal practice. We will bring special awareness to enhancing core stability and strength, building balance, and enhancing breath capacity. Expect an upbeat, relaxed, and interactive atmosphere, with some time to focus on movement and breathing techniques as a group and with individualized guidance. This is about finding the flow that is best for you (what Kathryn calls "accessibility design"). We will explore how each posture or movement will be best in your body, as it is right now. You are encouraged explore individual needs and alternatives for poses and sequences you will find in other classes, and to ask for guidance. We expect to deep dive into a simple sequence each week, gathering new tools for self-practice and reviewing older practices each week. Kathryn is a trauma-informed teacher, focused on bringing yoga to all bodies. Double up! This class is scheduled before another one of Kathryn's classes, so you can bring you chair practice modifications to regular classes. Accessibility and inclusivity note: This class welcomes all ages, bodies, body sizes and abilities. Heavy duty chairs are available. Touch base for accessibility needs. Unfortunately, the bathroom in the barn is three steps up from the floor. Please plan/prepare for this. Touch base for accessibility concerns. The teacher does not provide medical advice, nor imply any medical expertise. Any suggestions for alternatives are based on yoga training and experience, with the objective being that you find how the pose or movement fits in the pose in your body, and within the guidance of your healthcare professional. In chair yoga, we find the shapes and movements that best match the function of other poses. Participants must have doctor’s permission to participate and be responsible for knowing your own limitations and doctor’s guidance. Please do what’s best for your body. Kathryn always says, “Your body’s cues are more important than my cues.”
